European Union (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 – S.I. no. 317 of 2016

These Regulations amend the European Union (Cosmetic Products) Regulations 2013 to give effect to a number of Commission Regulations. These Regulations have the effect of

  • accounting for amendments pertaining to the restrictions in relation to methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone (Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1003/2014 of 18 September 2014),
  • prohibiting the use of 3-benzylidene camphor in cosmetic products (Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1298 of 28 July 2015),
  • authorising the use of zinc oxide (nano) and further restricting the use of zinc oxide as UV filters subject to criteria (Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/621 of 21 April 2016)
  • accounting for amendments pertaining to the restrictions in relation to potassium hydroxide, including its use a callosity softener (Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/622 of 21 April 2016)

These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2016.
