Tánaiste meets Irish Haemophilia Society
The Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children , Mary Harney TD today (Wednesday) met representatives of the Irish Haemophilia Society to update them on a number of key developments since her last meeting with the Society in February.
The Tanaiste told the Society that a legal firm has been contracted to advise the State in relation to pursuing a case against certain pharmaceutical companies arising from the manufacture of blood products which caused Hepatitis C and HIV infection to persons with haemophilia.
Also a proposal to develop a 12 bed in-patient facility at St James’s Hospital has been agreed in the Health Service Executive’s Capital Programme. The HSE has tendered for the Design Team for the Project.
