Statement regarding today’s meeting between the Department and Parents for Justice
The meeting today was constructive with both groups giving an account of developments since the last meeting on 16th December.
- Parents for Justice reported on the outcome of their meeting last weekend. The Department outlined the progress made in strengthening the arrangements for providing information and support for parents at Crumlin Hospital and the Counselling Services set up by the Eastern Health Board.
- The Department of Health and Children will continue to follow up on issues raised. This will involve Crumlin Hospital in particular but the Department will also be liaising with all the Health Boards and Agencies to ensure a sensitive response to any queries raised by concerned parents.
- The Department will maintain ongoing contact with Parents for Justice and will meet them again early in the New Year.
