Statement from Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney T.D., on regional hospital services
The Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney, T.D. said today that she is committed to investment and reform in the health services to achieve regional hospital services that will have the confidence of patients in terms of safety and availability.
She said the Report of the Task Force on Medical Staffing, chaired by Mr David Hanly was a significant piece of work aimed at achieving regional self sufficiency in the health services.
The Tanaiste said the planned investment in regional hospital services will continue with a programme of new hospitals facilities, new consultant posts and consultant led services, new paramedic services and the organization of services around hospital networks.
The Tanaiste said she was pleased that Mr Hanly will continue to be available to advise her on the reform of the health services.
