Statement by Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney T.D., on the Precautionary Review of the Platelet Programme at Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin
The Minister for Health and Children, Ms Mary Harney TD, said today she understands the anxiety being experienced by the former patients and their families who are affected by today’s news relating to the platelet donation programme at Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin.
The Minister said she understands the Hospital has been working closely with key experts in the Population Health Directorate of the HSE to devise an appropriate response to the problem, which is aimed at minimising the distress of families. She knows the hospital will do all possible to offer testing and reassurance to patients.
The Minister encouraged all patients to make contact through the hospital’s freephone helpline number of 1800 250 450 and to avail of the supports offered.
