Ministerial Appointments to the Medical Council
The current term of office of the Board of the Medical Council is due to expire on 31st May 2013. The Council consists of 25 members, 5 of whom will be appointed by the Minister for Health in accordance with the provisions of section 17(1)(n) of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007.
In accordance with Government’s decision to widen the opportunity for board membership of State Bodies, the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD, invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced persons interested in being appointed to fill these 5 vacancies on the Board of the Medical Council of Ireland. Competencies include patient safety and advocacy, ethics, corporate governance, finance, risk management, human resource management, regulatory procedures and law and expertise in the public interest. Board members are appointed in a non-executive capacity.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 17.00, Thursday, 28th March.
