Minister Wallace urges people to reduce their consumption of alcohol
Minister Mary Wallace T.D. Minister for Health Promotion and Food Safety is today urging the Irish population to reduce its high level of alcohol consumption.
The social acceptance of alcohol in our society is sending the wrong signal, particularly to our young people. “Young people are our greatest resource and it is important that we guide and advise them safely through their early years. A young person is more vulnerable to the emotional and physical effects of alcohol on the brain and on the body than a grown adult” the Minister said.
There are benefits for society as a whole if everyone tries to reduce their alcohol consumption. It is never too late to start and the occasion of Temperance Sunday and the onset of the season of Lent provide an ideal starting point.
