Minister Reilly appeared before the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) Committee of the European Parliament
Today, 23rd January, 2013 Minister James Reilly appeared before the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) Committee of the European Parliament. The ENVI Committee is the largest legislative committee in the European Parliament with 69 members. The Committee deals with matters in the areas of environment, health and food safety legislation. The Minister presented details of the Presidency priorities in the field of health. The discussion focused mainly on Presidency related issues, specifically legislative dossiers currently being negotiated i.e. proposals dealing with Medical Devices, Clinical Trials, and Serious Cross Border Threats. There was a strong focus on issues related to the Tobacco dossier.
His itinerary also included meetings with Rapporteurs for priority dossiers ; Dagmar Roth-Behrendt and Mairead McGuinness (Shadow Rapporteur) Medical Devices, Peter Liese, In-vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices and Glenis Willmott, Clinical Trials.
