Minister O’Malley Welcomes Publication of National Intellectual Disability Database Committee’s Annual Report 2006
Mr Tim O’Malley TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, today (Friday, 13th October) welcomed the publication of the Annual Report 2006 of the National Intellectual Disability Database Committee.
The Minister commended the Health Research Board for this report which for the third year has provided timely information related to the planning of services in this sector in the current year.
The Minister of State said that “this is especially important given that Part 2 of the Disability Act relating to the needs assessment process and statement of service for children 0-5 years old will come into effect in June 2007.” The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to meeting the needs of people with disabilities through the €900m Multi-Annual Investment Package 2006 – 2009 under the National Disability Strategy and other measures outlined in the Department’s Sectoral Plan.
Minister O‘Malley said “The commitment of all services and agencies involved in the maintenance of the database is significant and their continuing co-operation is crucial in ensuring the ongoing availability of accurate and timely information.”
