Minister O´Malley welcomes publication of National Disability Authority Report
Tim O´Malley, Minister for State at the Department for Health and Children, today (18 January) welcomed the publication by the National Disability Authority (NDA) of the Report “Towards Best Practice in the Provision of Irish Health Services for People with Disabilities in Ireland.”
The Minister looks forward to considering the detailed findings and recommendations contained in the Report and acknowledges in particular the work of Dr. Jane Pillinger in carrying out the research for the document.
The Minister is appreciative of the advice and assistance which his Department has received from the NDA since its establishment. The completion of this Report constitutes a valuable and timely contribution to the knowledge-base surrounding disability issues, given the imminent publication of the forthcoming Disability Bill. It also provides an important input to the strategic review of health and personal social services for people with disabilities, which is now in progress in the Department for Health and Children in accordance with “Sustaining Progress”, the Social Partnership Agreement 2003-2005.
