Minister O’Malley Presents NIDD Report Cover Design Winners Prize
Mr. Tim O’Malley T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, today (Thursday 23rd November 2006) presented the prize for the cover design for the National Intellectual Disability Database Report 2006 to Ms Pauline Molloy whose energetic and joyous design reflected the atmosphere in which she lives within the Carriglea Cairde Services in Dungarvan Co Waterford.
Minister O’Malley noted the level of community activities that Ms Molloy undertakes particularly her role on the Community Development Group and in the Transition Year Art project in the local secondary school. He commended Ms Molloy’s energetic approach to life saying it is the result of family support, the support of her friends and colleagues her at Carriglea, the local community and Ms Molloy’s own enthusiastic personality and ability.
The Minister commended the work of the Sister of Bon Saveur facility for people with disabilities at Carriglea Services highlighting the “Transition to Work” modules of their service provision. The Minister said “everyone should be allowed to maximise their own individual potential to contribute to society through employment that is appropriate to their ability. Society will benefit for inclusive employment and society will realise that inclusive employment is the way to promote an equitable society.”
