Minister O’Malley Launches the Daughters of Charity’s Policy Document on Relationships and Sexuality
Mr. Tim O’Malley T.D. Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children launched the Daughters of Charity Service policy document ‘Relationships and Sexuality’ in Limerick to-day (Friday 11th March, 2005).
“It is of great importance that Irish Society understands that men and women, boys and girls with disabilities have the same fundamental needs as any other group in our society, including the need for sexual expression”.
The Minister paid tribute to all who worked to bring the booklet “Relationships and Sexuality” to fruition, through relentless and sustained hard work, determination and commitment.
In his address the Minister acknowledged that since their formation in 1952 the Daughters of Charity had given a voice to people with disabilities and has ensured that that voice extends to decision-making about the provision of services for the people in the community they service.
