Minister Martin gives go ahead for theatre re-furbishment at the City of Dublin Skin & Cancer Hospital, Hume Street
Mr. Micheál Martin, T.D., Minister for Health and Children today (26th June 2001) announced capital funding of £350,000 for the upgrading of theatre facilities at the City of Dublin Skin & Cancer Hospital, Hume Street, Dublin 2.
The theatre will be used primarily for the provision of plastic surgery services and will complement the Hospital’s existing dermatology service.
Hume Street Hospital has a strong tradition in caring for the sick and since 1985 has specialised in dermatology treatment. The Hospital is recognised as a specialist referral centre, being the only hospital in the country totally devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions.
“The upgrading of the hospital´s theatre facilities represents a major boost for the hospital and the services it provides” said the Minister. “It will be of great benefit to patients who will have access to an enhanced level of service. The investment demonstrates this Government’s commitment to the enhancement of acute hospital services.”
