Minister Martin announces the approval of a Design Team for a 32 bed Community Nursing Unit at St Vincent´s Hospital Dungavan
Mr Micheál Martin T.D. Minister for Health and Children has today, (13 February, 2004) announced a new 32 bed Community Nursing Unit and Day Care Centre for older people at St Vincent´s Hospital Dungarvan.
The new Community Nursing Unit which comprises of 32 beds and a Day Care Centre, will replace the existing District Hospital which is over 80 years old and provide more appropriate accommodation for both patients and staff.
“I am pleased to announce that I have conveyed approval to the South Eastern Health Board to proceed with the selection of a Design Team for this project”, stated the Minister.
The Minister also stated that this project, which is estimated to cost in excess of €5m, to include construction, equipping, fees and other costs, is regarded as a priority by the South Eastern Health Board and is being funded from resources availalbe to my Department under the National Development Plan.
