Minister Martin announces refurbishment plan for Meath Hospital Unit for Older People
Minister Micheál Martin, Minister for Health and Children, is delighted to announce the approval of a refurbishment plan for the Meath Hospital Unit for Older People.
The Minister acknowledged the need for the up-grading of the facility and stated that the residents deserved first-class accommodation. He highlighted the need to keep the residents in their own community and he stated that the refurbishment of the Unit would allow this to happen.
Minister Martin added that his priority for older people, in his capacity as Minister for Health and Children, is to ensure that the issues facing them are addressed with a view to providing improved services befitting the older population whose contribution to society is fully acknowledged.
The Minister concluded by saying that the refurbishment of the Meath Hospital Unit for Older People was yet another example of the current Government´s commitment to older people.
The cost of the Project is estimated to be in the region of€8m for construction, design and equipping of the Unit.
