Minister Martin announces important developments for Ennis General Hospital
On his visit to Ennis General Hospital today, Mr Micheál Martin TD, Minister for Health and Children, approved the establishment of a Project Team to prepare detailed briefs for the development of priorities at the hospital. The priority areas to be developed include the Accident and Emergency, Out-Patients, Radiology and Pathology Departments and the Ambulance Centre. The Minister said that the establishment of the Project team had been agreed with the Mid-Western Health Board in the context of its overall priorities for development projects under the National Development Plan.
The Minister said “I am committed to the provision of a high quality health service for the people of County Clare. The establishment of the Project Team is an important first step in the detailed planning process that is required to enable development works to start at the hospital”.
The Minister also announced that he is making £300,000 available to the Mid-Western Health Board under the National Development Plan for medical equipment at Ennis General Hospital. “This level of funding demonstrates my commitment to the development of the hospital with a view to ensuring that it is prepared to meet the needs of an expanding and thriving local community”.
