Minister Hoctor Addresses Age Action Ireland AGM on 13th September 2007
Ms Máire Hoctor, Minister of State for Older People, today (13th September 2007) gave the keynote address at the 14th Age Action Annual General Meeting in Croke Park Conference Centre.
Age Action is a national advocacy body on ageing and older people. It acts as a network of organisations and individuals including older people and carers of older people. Minister Hoctor said “I would like to express my support for, and encouragement to, all those involved with Age Action Ireland.”
Speaking at the AGM Minister Hoctor added that “the older population in this country has made an invaluable contribution to all aspects of Irish life. There is no doubt that society benefits enormously from the presence and participation of those who have seen what life has to offer”.
The Government is fully committed to improving all aspects of the lives of older people, “by focusing not only on health issues but also giving consideration to the quality of accommodation, security, welfare, and all other issues which affect older people”
