Minister gives go-ahead to seek tenders for Capital Development at Rotunda Hospital, Dublin
Mr. Micheál Martin, T.D., Minister for Health and Children is pleased to announce his approval for capital development works to proceed at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. These works will comprise an amalgamation of the Paediatric Unit with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The third floor of the Hospital will also be extended and refurbished and the estimated total cost of the project will be in the region of £4.5m, of which £1m will be donated by the hospital. The project will now proceed to tender stage with a view to construction commencing in 2000.
“I am delighted to be associated with this important new development which will greatly strengthen the excellent services currently available at the hospital. I am confident that it will enable the hospital to meet the growing increase in demand for its services and its perceived future needs and that it will significantly enhance the provision of maternity and paediatric services on the northside of Dublin and beyond” said the Minister.
The Minister also took the opportunity to congratulate the hospital for its sterling fund-raising efforts in helping to raise £1m towards the cost of the development.
