Minister for Health and Children welcomes return to full service at Waterford and Tullamore Hospitals and the return to talks by the IMO
The Minister for Health and Children, Mr Micheál Martin, T.D., welcomes the return to full patient services at Waterford and Tullamore Hospitals. The Minister welcomes the IMOs suspension of their industrial action and the commencement of talks at the Labour Relations Commission.
The Minister expressed his thanks for the efforts of the Labour Relations Commission, the Health Service Employers Agency and the employers for their positive and flexible approach. He called for such an approach to be adopted by all sides in the talks which are aimed at resolving the issue of the disputed rosters.
“Patient care must be everyone´s priority”, the Minister said. “The way forward to resolving disputes must be through dialogue and negotiation. Industrial action is not an appropriate mechanism for dispute resolution in the health service”.
