Micheál Martin welcomes the publication of the Report on Irish Women and Tobacco
The Minister for Health and Children Micheál Martin T.D. today, 2 September 03, welcomed the publication of the Report on Irish Women and Tobacco commissioned by the Office of Tobacco Control.
Importantly the overall conclusions in the report re-affirm that strong public support exists for curbs on smoking in public places. The MRBI poll commissioned for this report shows that almost 70% of the people polled said that they would like to see the ban on smoking in the workplace being brought in. “The measures that I am introducing to protect people from tobacco smoke reflect this widespread support. No one can be in any doubt that working to protect employees and the public by creating a smoke free environment in the workplace is a positive goal and that it will result in many benefits for us all and particularly for future generations.”
