Martin reopens Medical Ward at Mallow General Hospital
The Minister for Health and Children, Mr Micheál Martin T.D., today, Monday (12 June 2000), officially opened the newly refurbished 13-bed Medical Ward at Mallow General Hospital.
Mallow General Hospital is a crucial player in the provision of health care in the Southern Health Board the Minister said.
This is a historic day for Mallow General Hospital, said the Minister. This development is a landmark expansion of the hospitals capacity.
Additional bed capacity has been one of the most significant developments for the hospital in recent years. This development of the medical services at Mallow General Hospital will greatly enhance the quality of care which the hospital provides.
Other developments at the hospital include the installation of a new lift at a cost of £640,000; and the upgrading of St. Josephs Ward at a total cost of £400,000.
I am confident that when these developments are completed, the people of North Cork can be rightfully proud of their hospital here in Mallow, said the Minister.
