Lynch welcomes first ever education agreement between UCC and Vietnam International Education Department
Minister Kathleen Lynch today, Tuesday 4 November 2014, welcomed the signing of the first ever agreement between University College Cork and the Vietnam International Education Department (VIED). The agreement arose from a visit by Minister Lynch to Vietnam last March, when she represented the Government at St. Patrick’s Day events in Hanoi.
“I am delighted that this morning, in Hanoi, a delegation from UCC signed the agreement between the college and the Vietnam International Education Department. This agreement represents an important deepening of the relations between Ireland and Vietnam, and will see more students from one of the most dynamic countries in Asia come to Cork to study. It is also a recognition of the international reputation of UCC and the quality of its courses. The college has a strong reputation in such areas as IT, Food Science and Technology and I expect these and other disciplines will be of particular interest to the Vietnamese International Education Department” said the Minister.
The agreement was signed on behalf of VIED by its Director General, Dr. Vang and for UCC by Dr. Christopher Brown, Head of UCC’s International Office. The Irish Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E Damien Cole, also attended the ceremony.
