Ivor Callely T.D., Minister for State at the Department of Health and Children presented breastfeeding promotional posters to Mr. Robert Hilliard, Aer Rianta Director of Dublin Airport
Today (Tuesday 7th October) at 9.00 a.m. in the press room at Dublin Airport, Mr. Ivor Callely T.D., Minister for State at the Department of Health and Children presented breastfeeding promotional posters to Mr. Robert Hilliard, Aer Rianta Director of Dublin Airport.
These posters will be displayed in all the nurseries in Aer Rianta´s three Irish airports. This represents part of a commitment by Aer Rianta to make facilities at their airports more breastfeeding friendly for their customers.
Another change at the airports has been the replacement of the signs indicating the location of the airports´ nurseries. These have been changed from an illustration of a ´feeding bottle´ to a more generic baby symbol.
In making these changes Aer Rianta is acknowledging the superior value of breastfeeding to the present and future health of infants, their mothers and to society generally.
The Minister wholeheartedly endorsed these changes by Aer Rianta and he recommended that other service providers should follow suite.
In supporting the initiative the Minister said “We all need to be consistent and unequivocal in our support of breastfeeding as it provides a critical window of opportunity to ensure optimal short and long-term health for babies and their mothers”.
“We are delighted to accept and display the new breastfeeding promotional posters at Dublin Airport”, said Robert Hilliard, Aer Rianta Director, Dublin Airport. “Aer Rianta recognises the importance of providing a comfortable environment for nursing mothers at all its airports,” he concluded.
