Callely presents the Alzheimer Society of Ireland “Dementia Recognition Awards”
Mr Ivor Callely,T.D., Minister for Services for Older People, today, (1 November 2003) presented the Alzheimers Society of Ireland “Dimentia Recognition Awards” in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin.
“I am delighted to have been asked to attend this evening for the second annual presentation of awards to carers, volunteers, dementia workers, advocates and GP´s who have displayed real empathy and skill in the care of people suffering from dementia.
The “Dementia Recognition Awards” are still a new concept, and I thank Shire Pharmaceuticals and Jannsen Cillag for their support of this most valuable event.
I commend all those who were nominated, as well as those who win, for the support, commitment and generosity that those who care for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia show on a daily basis. Everybody here this evening has shown that the dedication they give to their patients, family member, neighbour or community has not gone un-noticed. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference to some-bodies life, and that of their family.
Finally, my congratulations to The Alzheimer Society that their hard work over the past 21 years in providing support and services to people with Dementia and their carers has been so worthwhile”, stated the Minister.
