Callely opens Lusk Community Nursing Unit
The Minister of State for Older People Mr Ivor Callely T.D. today (8 July 2002) opened the new Community Nursing Unit at Lusk, Co Dublin. The Minister stated that he was delighted to have the opportunity to see the 50 bed Unit in person.
The Unit is in line with Government policy on providing services for older people, which is to maintain older people in dignity and independence at home and to provide a high quality of hospital and residential care for older people when this is no longer a viable option.
Minister Callely said “Lusk Community Unit enhances and complements the service provided by the Northern Area Health Board to older people in North County Dublin and its environs. In addition to providing continuing care, respite care and day care facilities for patients, the Unit also provides assistance and relief to caring relatives therby reducing the necessity for admission to extended care.”
The Minister paid tribute to the staff, clients and everyone involved in the Unit and wished them every success in the future
