Appointment of Mr. Pat O’Mahony as Chair of the EMEA Management Board
Mr Pat O’Mahony, Chief Executive of the Irish Medicines Board (IMB), has been appointed Chairman of the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) with effect from 7 June 2007 for a three year period of office.
Commenting on the appointment the Minister for Health and Children, Ms Mary Harney, said today (Friday, 8 June 2007)“I am delighted to learn of the appointment of Pat O’Mahony to the post of Chairman of the European Medicines Agency. This is not only a tribute to him personally and professionally but it also recognises the high standing of the IMB at European level. I extend my sincerest congratulations to him and wish him all the best in this new position.”
The European Medicines Agency (EMEA), located in London, was established in 1995 to harmonise the medicines control functions of the individual EU Member States.
