Announcement of re-appointment and new appointments to the Board of the Health Service Executive.
The Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney TD, today (Friday, 25th January, 2008 ) announced that following the retirement by lottery (as required by the Health Act, 2004) of five members of the HSE Board, she is re-appointing three members and making two new appointments to the Board.
The re-appointments are: Mr Eugene McCague, Professor Anne Scott and Mr P. J. Fitzpatrick.
The two new appointments to the HSE Board are : Mr Joe Mooney and Mr Pat Farrell.
Mr Joe Mooney is a recently retired senior official of the Department of Finance with many years experience in the health and social welfare area.
Mr Pat Farrell is Chief Executive of the Irish Banking Federation, the principle representative body for banking and financial services in Ireland. He is on the Board of the Irish Hospice Foundation and is a former senior executive in both the private and public health care sectors. Mr Farrell is resigning his position on the VHI Board.
The Minister expressed her gratitude to the retiring members of the Board for their work and commitment over their term of office.
