Ambulance Conference opened by Callely
Mr Ivor Callely TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, has today (3 April 2003) opened the IAMBEX 2003 Conference on behalf of the Association of Chief Ambulance Officers. The theme of this years Conference is ´Teaming with Vision´.
Minister Callely acknowledged the key role which the Chief Ambulance Officers, as Regional Managers of the service, play in effecting the delivery of ambulance services.
“It is essential that we continue to develop an integrated approach to working relationships with other key healthcare providers as part of a seamless healthcare system. This will ensure that the quality of pre-hospital care and other emergency services continues to improve,” said the Minister of State.
A number of Conference speakers will introduce specific topics in line with the Conference theme. There will also be a simulated air rescue by representatives of the Irish Air Corps and the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Service which will provide a practical demonstration of inter-agency teamwork during incidents.
“I would like to assure you that the Department will continue to work with service providers to pursue policy initiatives aimed at ensuring that those calling on the ambulance service receive timely and appropriate care,” concluded Minister Callely.
