Re-appointment to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU)
On the nomination of the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has re-appointed the following person to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU). This appointment is from 4 April 2017 to 13 February 2021.
Ms. Maeve Murphy
Ms. Murphy is a Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Manager in Tallaght Hospital. She was recently re-appointed by the Minister to the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board. She was also a member of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council up until the expiry of her term of office in March 2017. She is also currently a member of CORU Registration and Education and Audit, Risk and Governance Committees.
Ms. Murphy received a speech and language therapy professional qualification from Trinity College in 1997 and an MBA from University College Dublin in 2006. She has 15 years’ experience as a speech and language therapist in both clinical and managerial roles. She held the position of Chairperson of IASLT from 2008 to 2010, Chairperson of IASLT’s Professional Development and Ethics Committee from 2008 to 2011 and Chairperson of the Therapy Professions Committee from 2009 to 2010. Special areas of interest include advocacy for patients with disabilities, service integration, health system governance, systems analysis, process improvement and ensuring a focus on continuous quality improvement.
