Expressions of Interest are sought for Appointments to the Board of the Dublin Dental Hospital

The Minister for Health invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for three positions as Ordinary Members on the Dublin Dental Hospital.

As a Board Member, you will be required to:

  • Bring independent and objective scrutiny to the oversight of Dublin Dental Hospital
  • Be prepared to be challenging, when necessary, while being supportive to the delivery of the Hospital’s strategy and objectives
  • Be equipped to offer considered advice on the basis of sound judgement and experience
  • Be prepared to make a time commitment to your work commensurate with your role

In order to ensure the correct skill mix and competencies to fill the current vacancies on the Board, the Minister for Health invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who can demonstrate significant senior level experience and competency in any of the following three areas.

Clinical
Candidates must hold a recognised professional qualification in dentistry or medicine or a related discipline and demonstrate knowledge/experience at an appropriately senior level in one or more of the following areas:

  • The provision of evidence-based, high quality and safe healthcare, including risk management
  • Clinical governance, quality and patient safety
  • The provision of strategic clinical guidance and oversight,
  • Expertise in the development/implementation of oral or Medical health education and research programmes on a national/international scale.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience of board membership
  • Knowledge/Experience of public health sector organisations

Corporate Governance, Risk Management

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Strong corporate governance skills at a sufficiently senior level
  • Skills or experience of audit and assessing corporate risk and experience of implementing corporate risk management.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience of board membership
  • A relevant qualification in Corporate Governance/Risk Management

Law

Candidates must hold a recognised professional qualification in law and membership of the relevant professional body, or be former legal practitioners.

Candidates must also have significant post-qualification professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Contract management
  • Negotiation and mediation
  • Data protection
  • Corporate governance
  • Employment law
  • Public sector procurement practice

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience of board membership
  • Experience in a relevant regulatory environment
