Appointments to the Beaumont Hospital Board

On the nomination of Fingal County Council, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, has appointed the following person to the Beaumont Hospital Board.  This appointment is from 9 April 2017 to 8 April 2020.

Councillor Adrian Henchy

Cllr Henchy  is currently working in the Mater  Misercordiae Hospital as a community mental health nurse specialising in care of the older person. He has extensive experience working in the speciality of both Mental Health and care of the older person. Cllr Henchy completed his registered Nurse training in Mental Health in 1992 at St Vincents Hospital Dublin and in 1995 he completed his post graduated training in General Nursing at St Michaels Hospital Dun Laoghaire. Throughout his career in Mental Health he has worked in various positions both in Dublin and the UK gaining extensive knowledge in both Mental and the care of the Older Person.

Cllr Henchy works with the  Alzheimer’s  Society of Ireland and in his career as a Councillor he sits on the Board for North Dublin Regional Drugs and Alcohol Task Force and most recently was appointed as Chairperson to the Donabate Portrane Substance abuse and Mental Health Group (SAMH) . Cllr Henchy has a keen interest in Mental Health for the young people and has ran several seminars on this topic. Cllr Henchy is also a member of the Regional Health Board nominated by Fingal County Council.

Mr Mel Greaney

Mel Greaney worked in the Health services in both England & Ireland.  He is a qualified State Registered Nurse (SRN).  Registered Psychiatric Nurse with Honours (RPN).  Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disability (RNMN).  Member of the Royal Society of Health (MRSH).

Attended the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.  Certification in Adult Guidance and & Occupational Testing. Irish Management Institute (IMI) Management course). Certification from the Institute of Public Administration (Public Administration). In service training in Germany, Poland, England and Scotland.

Recruited to National Rehabilitation Board (NRB) where he held a number of posts: Vocational Officer; EU Department; Research and Planning; Regional Manager.

Following the amalgamation of NRB & FAS he was Manager of the Government funded Community Employment Programme in Cavan

Past Member of the Board of Directors of NRB.

Past Member of the Board of the Employment of the Blind.

Past Vice Chairman of Cavan Credit Union.

Past member of Cavan Youth Community Services.

Peace Commissioner.
