Appointment to the Radiographers Registration Board

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris, T.D., has appointed the following person as a member of the Radiographers Registration Board, on his co-option by the Board.  This appointment is from 29 May 2018 to 23 January 2020.

Mr. Barry Hallinan

Mr. Hallinan is a qualified radiographer with 18 years’ experience in the field. He commenced his career in Beaumont Hospital and served there in various positions before becoming acting Clinical Specialist in Interventional Radiology in late 2009, and formally assuming the role the following year. He served in that capacity for four years with particular highlights for him including formalisation of the 24 hour on call service for the National Thrombectomy service and advancement of the role of radiographer in Interventional Radiography. In 2014 Mr. Hallinan moved to multinational firm Siemens where he worked in Ireland and the UK as an Application Specialist involved in both the general radiography and interventional fields. After spending a period of two years with that company he returned to Beaumont Hospital to resume his position as Clinical Specialist in Interventional Radiology.

In addition to his work at Beaumont Hospital, Mr. Hallinan has also undertaken research in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI) and has assisted UCD in their delivery of the Interventional module as part of their student training programme. His educational qualifications include honours degrees awarded by UCD and TCD and the Olive Fleming memorial medal (which is given to the Radiography student who is deemed to have attained the highest skill level in the clinical field).
