Appointment of Sinead Fitzgerald as Ordinary member to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU)
Following a Public Appointments Service campaign for the designated profession of Psychologist, Sinead Fitzgerald has been appointed by Minister for Health Simon Harris TD, as Ordinary member to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU). This is with effect from 14th November 2016 until 13th November 2020.
Ms Fitzgerald has 25 years experience as a clinical psychologist working in the Irish public health service. She previously served as HSE Principal Psychologist until 2002 and is currently Director of Clinical Practice in Trinity College Dublin. In her role as Director of Clinical Practice she is accountable for the delivery and development of quality clinical practice for clinical psychology trainees.
She has significant experience in the development and maintenance of quality assurance and educational governance systems within clinical practice education. Her involvement on professional accreditation panels has provided her with the opportunity to promote the highest standards of professional training.
She is a member of both the Psychological Society of Ireland and the British Psychological Society. Her qualifications include an MA in Clinical Psychology from UCD. She currently holds the position of Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professorship at TCD.
