Appointment of Ms Gillian Walker to the Physiotherapists Registration Board
Following a Public Appointments Service (PAS) campaign, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris T.D., has appointed the following professional member to the Physiotherapists Registration Board with effect from 25 September 2018 to 19 May 2022:
Ms Gillian Walker
Ms Gillian Walker is currently the Principal Physiotherapist in the Court Clinic in Dublin. Ms Walker qualified as a physiotherapist from Trinity College Dublin in 1977 taking up a post in St James’s Hospital where she worked for 3 years. During this time, she was also the physiotherapist for Bohemians Football Club. Ms Walker’s association with athletics continued and included being the physiotherapist for the Irish Ladies Football team for the UEFA cup and for the Irish Olympic team for the Barcelona Olympics. She also worked with the Irish Swimming Association for four years.
Ms Walker is a founding member and former Chairperson of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine. She has lectured extensively on her specialty – Lower Limb Mechanics – both in the education setting (UCD) and as a speaker at various health professional society events.
