Office of Government Procurement (OGP)
The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) was established in January 2014 with a key objective to optimise value for money through consolidating tendering techniques. OGP centralises procurement and assumes responsibility for Sourcing and Contracting for the common expenditure categories.
Some sectors, including the health sector, have retained Sourcing and Contracts functions and still procure their sector specific categories on their own behalf and also on behalf of all Government Department and Agencies.
The HSE will continue to govern the procurement operations of the health system for health specific purposes as set out in the Health Act 2004. It will also work with the OGP in accordance with the memorandum of understanding to be agreed and cooperate with the Office of Government Procurement in support of the government strategy across the public sector.
