The Get Ireland Walking programme has over 150 walking groups registered to date, many of which are new walking groups established in that last 12 months. Plans are underway for the launch and activation of a new Communities Walking Initiative.
The Communities Walking Initiative has been developed to encourage and support communities throughout Ireland to establish vibrant and sustainable community walking groups.
A new initiative between Get Ireland Walking and the Irish Pharmacy Union the Get Ireland Walking 21 Day Walking Challenge was launched in January. This initiative, which aims to increase the number of people walking for health and wellbeing was developed to enable people to establish the habit of walking and the challenge is to walk on 21 consecutive days.
Get Ireland Walking in partnership with Operation Transformation organised Walking Events on Saturday the 17th of January at over 50 locations nationwide. An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was amongst the participants in Mayo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hsnvmOxDHo
