We provide a coherent and integrated approach to policy and service delivery for people with disabilities, including developing policy to support the provision of health and personal social supports and services for people with disabilities and supporting the implementation of the National Disability Strategy in the health sector.
We monitor, evaluate and report on the provision of health and personal social supports and services, funded from the Health Vote, for people with disabilities. We oversee the implementation of the recommendations in the Value for Money Review of Disability Services, including the transition towards a person-centred model of services and supports for disability services.
We work with other Government Departments to progress cross-sectoral liaison on the housing, employment and training needs for people with disabilities, including advancing the joint implementation Framework for the Housing Strategy for People with Disabilities with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. This includes supporting the transition from congregated settings into community living.
