Appointment to the Optical Registration Board

Following a Public Appointment Service (PAS) advertising campaign, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD has appointed Ms Fionnuala McGee as a member of the Optical Registration Board for a term from 8th March 2018 to 7th March 2021.

Ms Fionnuala McGee, a barrister with a background in regulatory law, is currently the Business Manager in the Child and Family Agency.  Previously she was employed as the Legal Adviser in HIQA where she advised on corporate governance and was responsible for the legal training and induction of new inspectors within HIQA.  Ms McGee consulted with the inspectorate on practical issues and matters arising for them, and designed and delivered training in administrative law and principles of good regulation. In her current role in the Child and Family agency one of Ms McGee’s chief tasks is devising regulatory processes under the Children’s Services Regulation Management team, incorporating the Early Years Inspectorate and regulation of Alternative Education and Alternative Care.

In addition to her Barrister at Law qualification Ms McGee has been awarded a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health and an MSc in Computer Science and Applications
