Acute Hospitals Policy Unit 3

Responsibilities include

  • Overseeing the implementation of the National Maternity Strategy: Creating a Better Future Together, including the establishment of the National Women & Infants Health Programme;
  • Developing Government policy in relation to maternity services;
  • Overseeing the relocation of standalone maternity hospitals to the sites of acute hospitals;
  • Overseeing acute hospital services in the South/South West, the University of Limerick Hospital Groups and the maternity hospitals/units;
  • Oversight of the development of the National Ambulance Service in accordance with Action 33 of Future Health;
  • Oversight of the Emergency Aeromedical Support Service;
  • Supporting the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council in meeting its statutory obligations.
